Carl Gjertson, MD

Dr. Gjertson is a robotic surgeon and endourologist, specializing in the medical and surgical treatment of prostate cancer, kidney cancer, and complex kidney stones.

Dr. Gjertson’s education includes a BA in molecular biophysics and biochemistry from Yale University, and a MD from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. His surgical training includes urology residency at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York, and a fellowship in laparoscopic and robotic surgery at Indiana University. Prior to arriving in southern New Jersey, Dr. Gjertson was faculty at the University of Connecticut Health Center for 17 years.

Dr. Dwyer is a board-certified and fellowship-trained hand, wrist, and elbow surgeon with extensive experience caring for residents of South Jersey.

Dr. Dwyer serves as a section chief for hand surgery for Virtua Orthopedics & Spine. A graduate of Temple University Medical School, Dr. Dwyer completed a hand surgery fellowship at the Rothman Institute.

Dr. Dwyer specializes in the treatment of nerve compression, such as carpal tunnel and cubital tunnel syndrome; management tendon pathologies, such as trigger finger and treatment of degenerative arthritis of the hand and wrist; and traumatic injuries to the upper extremity, including management of fractures and nerve or tendon injuries. He also has expertise in fracture care, especially of those in the hand, wrist, and elbow.

Dr. Dwyer is the author of several peer-reviewed journal articles and has presented at multiple medical conferences. Patients consistently commend Dr. Dwyer for his compassionate, professional, and attentive care. His approachable and friendly demeanor makes patients feel comfortable and well-informed throughout their treatment.
